Lindsey. Like the all white Cat. Is it a big flower? My Phrag has 2 flowers 1 bud and I think there is another hiding in there. I have 2 new growths but it been in the same pot for at least 2 years so yours will come just be patience.

Jim, I think that 'Wedding Reception' would be considered a compact Catt. From the top of the potting media the whole plant stands just 9"  the flowers are about 3 1/2" across. It has a very slight fragrance as well.

My Phrag has had 3 flowers that came and went..I'm enjoying #4 now and #5 is in the works. I've stopped carrying it to the sink as I discoverd the flowers arent held on by much!  Will it need a dormant period after the blooms are finished ..with a little less water and fertilizer?..or should I just keep doing what I've been doing ?

I have never given mine a rest you may cut back on the fertilizer if you want but not the water. I grow all my Phrags semi hydroponic so they always sit in water.

Looked it up on OrchidWiz. It's spelled Samarai. Dendrobium stratiotes x Dendrobium antennatum. Grow warm to hot (66°F to 85°F at night). Keep moist spring and summer and reduce water/fertilizer in cool months. Pot should be small for the plant size.

Your Den. aggregatum has spikes on it?...why did I think they only bloomed in the spring?...I'm so glad you are seeing spikes and your plants are obviously happy...That's got to be a big load off your shoulders!

Great to see that your orchids are doing well at your new place. How is the lights going have you got them set up yet? I know it it still August but it got down to 12c (58f) last nite so cooling off. I see you got a Catesatum in spike mine just bloomed it must be there time. It is hard to get a good picture they seem to bloom face down. This plant I have is a steady bloomer end Aug to end Sept. You can see the leafs are turning all ready.

Bill The cym's look great but the Zygo wow!! Great colour.

Lindsey.   I really like the cat and to get another 3 spikes that has to be good growing. The colour is great and I really like the Bc and Blc type of cats. My Phrag grande still has one flower and One bud coming though maybe 2 buds but nope.

I'll say! That grande is truly GRAND!

My basement walls and floor should be done this week.  I ordered 4 sets of 4' lights (4 bulbs) and 2 with 6 lights. All T5s but I probably need more since the lights are for the whole basement not just the plant area. I have a new sump pump that drains out the pipe going out.

Next is shelving....

So I got bad news today. A friend who has been hosting this forum is retiring. I can't afford the fee for hosting (up to $200 a month). So I've decided to take down the forum. Do we want to continue to meet somewhere? Facebook page? Other?

It would be nice to continue in some form. I certainly use Facebook regularly so perhaps that would do.

I am very sorry to hear you have to shut the form down but can well understand. I am not up on this but do you have to close the Facebook page also? Like Bill said maybe meet on the face book page can we do that? I will defiantly miss this form. Everybody is so friendly and helpful besides having GREAT orchids. Please let me know what happens. When do you have to shut things down?

It's up to me. But probably early September. I have a Facebook fan page which I assume will continue. I have 6,000 fans there but people rarely post. It should be easy for us to continue sharing there.

Kathy, this has been a beautiful site and I love your group here..thank you for making it all possible !

I've just gone over to FaceBook and found your page ...I had already 'Liked' it awhile back..but for some reason you were not showing up in my news feed like my other liked pages do..I posted a comment on your most recent thread and posted my last photo so hopefully, it's just one of those crazy algorithyms that FB uses to determine what I see.

I hope to see everyone else ( and your gorgeous flowers)  over there!

Very sorry to hear it, Kathy...I have really enjoyed connecting with orchid hobbyists all over the world and seeing their beautiful flowers.  I am grateful to you for making that possible, and I hope we can all stay connected on Facebook or some other platform.  Does anyone do instagram?

Here are a couple of bloomers at my house today:

I have a lot of phals, not sure where they all came from, and they grow well and bloom reliably for me.  For some reason they don't interest me and I seldom post their photos.  I should give them more credit, they are higher achieving than most of my plants.  Here is one that I got about a year ago when I retired from the town library board.

I will savor the last few weeks of COL forum, and I will truly miss it.

Okay so I have made a closed COL group for us On FB. That way all the posts show on the feed. You will all have to go to your groups on your personal page, then search for the Crazy Orchid Lady group. Then ask to join and I will approve you. Lindsey I already stuck you in since we are Facebook friends.

Okay so if you do a search for Crazy Orchid Lady there is one with a photo of Lc. Pacavia and one without which says three members. That's the one with three members. There should be a button for requesting to join.
